Pembeni Africa aims to develop and be an important part of the growing Tourism industry in Tanzania. We take conservation, employment of locals and health and safety regulations very seriously.

We hope to borrow as little and create as better environment as possible for future generations.

WE DO INHERIT THE EARTH FROM OUR ANCESTORS, WE BORROW IT FROM OUR CHILDREN

  • CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS…

have been sourced as locally as possible, giving suppliers a chance to grow their businesses and improve their supply chains.

  • WE ARE SUPPORTING…

a local school located near the Camp. We have been able to put a new room in one of the classes. Each year we provide students with books and stationary. Guests can also contribute to this further by packing items and bringing them to the Camp. Items are documented and supplied to the School directly.

  • The Camp…

has been built by local builders. They were provided with the necessary training and given the opportunity to improve their workmanship skills.

  • WE ARE EMPOWERING…

women and children by allowing them to sell their art and crafts at the Camp free of any charges. All profits from any sales of the goods go directly back to their families and communities.

  • BY HIRING LOCALS…

we have created employment and local jobs. We have provided them with the necessary training and given them the opportunity to grow and develop their hospitality skills.

  • WE SOURCE…

all produce from local markets.

  • WE HAVE PLANTED…

several trees after completion of construction. Some of the land had previously been overgrazed by farmers and we are now restoring it by planting trees and shrubs that are found locally and form part of the ecosystem. Such conservation encourages wildlife and bird life to come back.

  • THE SOAPS…

that we use are eco-friendly and we encourage our guests to switch off any extra lights that are not in use and re use bath towels where possible.
